Grace Gelder is a photographer and facilitator with over 16 years of experience in designing and delivering creative projects. Currently completing her PhD at Sheffield Hallam University, her research focuses on exploring morally challenging moments in critical care nursing through photography and storytelling.
Grace is passionate about portrait photography, capturing the nuances of human interaction and connection. Her editorial work has been widely published, showcasing her unique approach to storytelling through images. She enjoys working in diverse contexts and often engages in international artist residencies and commissions. Her personal work draws inspiration from human stories and the role of performance in activating creative expression. She frequently collaborates with professionals from various disciplines.
Grace has developed workshops and courses for renowned institutions, including Tate, Wellcome Collection, The V&A, The Photographers’ Gallery, and the Horniman Museum. She has extensive experience in socially engaged, community, and arts & health projects, working with organizations such as the Greater London Authority, Brixton House & South London & Maudsley Hospital, Age UK, and various local councils.
As a co-founder of Young Photographers London, Grace has developed photography workshops and courses for young people and has ongoing partnerships with children’s services departments in several London boroughs. She has also served as a visiting lecturer at institutions including the University of the Arts London, Royal College of Art, UCL, Westminster University, University of New Mexico, and Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture.
